Meltshop electrical & automation

From the electric arc furnace to the billet, we design the power, control and automation systems of the meltshop, build and test them in our own facility and commission them on site. The aim is consistent, safe operation with lower energy, electrode and refractory consumption.

Electric arc furnace in operation

01Electric arc furnace (EAF)

Furnace performance starts with keeping the electrodes in the right position. We bring electrode regulation, furnace motions and auxiliary systems into one control structure. The operator follows the whole furnace from the main pulpit and HMI screens.

Our scope

  • Electrode and arc regulation
  • Furnace motions: roof lift and swing, furnace tilting, electrode arms
  • Control of hydraulic and cooling water systems
  • MCC panels, drives, PLC/HMI, main pulpit
  • Cabling and network engineering

Power quality: an arc furnace causes flicker and harmonics on the grid. We address compensation and harmonic filtering at the start of the project.

02Ladle furnace (LF) and alloy addition

The ladle furnace brings temperature and chemistry to casting conditions. We automate electrode regulation, furnace motions and the alloy addition system together.

Our scope

  • Electrode regulation
  • Furnace motions: roof, electrode arms, ladle car
  • Alloy addition: bunkers, weighing and feeding control
  • MCC, PLC/HMI and control desk

03Continuous caster (CCM)

Product quality in continuous casting depends on stable mould level and casting speed. We supply automation that follows each strand separately, and the torch cutting system at the strand exit.

Our scope

  • Mould level control
  • Casting speed and withdrawal-straightener drives per strand
  • Torch cutting automation; delivered on a 6-strand caster
  • Billet transfer and discharge
  • MCC, drives, PLC/HMI
Hot billets

04Billet

Every cast billet is recorded in the Level 2 system with its heat number and strand, so traceability continues into the rolling mill.

Auxiliary plants

  • Fume treatment: fan drives, dampers and filter cleaning control
  • Water treatment: pump stations, level and flow control, cooling circuits
